Crayons - March Sets

So this month I had some trouble with my crayons. I finally got rid of my cup warmer method, as I read about something much better!

Bye bye old ways!
New way is basically a double burner. Mom donated a pot for me and gave me some soup cans. I bent the cans a bit for a spout and then put them in the pot and add water. I’m so happy I can now make more colors instead of one!

After a great start of course trouble starts. I’m learning some crayons don’t melt the same way others do. So when I tried making some orangish color and it just turned into a thick slime consistency, I was not happy! This greatly angered me, so I turned up the heat. But the cans got to hot to handle, and that still didn’t help the consistency of the wax. So here comes more bad news..

I’m skipping making crayons for April, so all of March no crayons will be made. I instead will be sorting my crayons and doing melting experiments based on the brands I have. I want my process to be as smooth as possible and I don’t want to have to depend on a certain type of crayon for that. My goal is to make these crayons from any and all crayons given to me. Second Life Crayons if you will.

I also this month reworked some of the advertising for my etsy! I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. Things are slowing getting better month by month, I’m learning something new.

Lovely isn't it?
But with all the troubles I experienced, I was still able to make a few sets. Here’s a first look at the labels!

For March I did a St. Patricks Day set, and a March Madness theme sets. Plus one extra, because I had more red penises left over.

So come on over to my shop and look around! And if you have any color suggestions for pairings feel free to comment!

Crayons - February Sets

So this year, I’m going to take my crayons sets a little bit more seriously. Starting off small by making it a mission to make at least 4 sets a month. Which was a little more difficult then I thought last month(Feb). I was a bit disappointed that I made 3 sets roughly the same and then 1 other one. But this did give me a reason to play with the quantity setting. Which I haven’t played with before on Etsy. Still so much to learn.

So for February we have Stud Muffins and a redo of Cupids Love Meat.
I had a fun time doing to labels. I can’t wait for them to find homes!

Time to start the January sets! Hopefully things go a little more smoothly this time.

6th Label for 6th Set

I’m thinking about making this into a monthly post, that way I just lump all the sales I do in a month and just show you the labels made. Might be easier that way.

Anywho… on to the label.

4th Label for the 4th Set

YAY! Another crayon set down! Happy they sell! I like to imagine they are making wonderful gag gifts or that it’s some funny brides gift.

So this set was called Barnacle Billies! And I had to think fast because the buyer needed it quick! Which was fine, so I went for a simpler design idea.

Cute aren’t they! My little sailor men are heading out to the big city of New York! I wish them the best, and hope they had a great trip!

I have also decided to start sharing where my crayons go! State wise anyway. I hope to see the map covered at some point, but this is a nice place to start.

Ice Cream Summer Pattern

Long ago in college, I made a ice cream design.

I later decided to redesign it.

Sadly I had to draw over my old design. While I was doing that I also decided to rearrange it. I’ll probably work on it some more. But I do have this design done right now, and you can get it untagged on Spoonflower! They have print it on fabrics and wallpaper and gift wrap to. I think that’s pretty cool.

I think it would be one of those patterns that looks cool from far away, but then when you get close you see it’s al whole bunch of mini ice creams! Isn’t that wonderful!
